Cooking with Grains: Italian Summer is a hands-on workshop teaching practical skills for cooking with regional whole grains.
Instructors Ayla Walter and Patrick Shaw-Kitch will share techniques and passion for working with regional whole grains as part of summer Italian menus. In this class, you'll learn how to make gnocchi that incorporates regional whole grains, a caprese torta that uses beans in the base, and panzanella using whole grain bread. You’ll enjoy a full, seasonal Italian meal and leave with practical cooking skills, new grain knowledge, and easy ways to use grains grown by regenerative farmers in your everyday kitchen.
Class is held at Brooklyn Granary & Mill at 240 Huntington Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231 and runs for about 2.5 hours, from 6:00 to 8:30pm on Monday, August 31. Tickets include class instruction, meal cooked in class, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Tickets are nonrefundable. If you need to cancel, please give two weeks notice and tickets can be transferred to attend another class within 12 months.
